FAQ

How many kilometers will my tires travel?

Many factors can affect the life cycle of your tires, such as tread compounds, tire construction, application, tire maintenance, geographic conditions, operation habits.

So it is impossible to predict the mileage of your tires. Ortec and its distributors will do its utmost to supply the suitable tires for your applications. And you are also suggested to strictly follow Ortec’s guidance on operation and maintenance.

Can two different brands of tires be mounted on the same machine?

We recommend identical tires (same brand, same size, same tread pattern load and speed indexes) be mounted on a machine, especially on an axle, so as to optimize the performances of the products. If not, it may cause premature wear and even compromise machine performance on road.

Do snow tires really work?

With normal compounds, the tread rubber tends to harden when outside temperature goes freezing. The winter or snow tires are designed with special tread and a more flexible tread rubber compound to keep your vehicle's grip, traction and braking performance at lower temperature to provide safety on cold, icy and slippery road surface.

Are Chinese brand tires good?

Certainly most Chinese tire brands do not perform equal quality, durability and safety with premium brands. But most of them are reliable manufacturers and produce good tires for the money. Just remember that never try to buy a product only because its price is lower. You are suggested to have a thorough survey before you place a purchase order. Ortec is always ready to tell more about itself.

How to choose the right earthmover tires?

First, you need to evaluate your needs as well as the conditions of your work site. If you operate your earthmoving equipment on finished surfaces, radial tires are the ideal option. Radial tires are also best suited for icy, moist or muddy ground because of their design minimizes slippage. On the other hand, if your tires are frequently endangered by gravel and sidewall cutting such as in pit and quarry site, you should consider bias earthmoving tires.

Second, try to know the working capacity of your earthmoving equipment so as to choose a tire with the right type of rubber. Different rubber types have different densities and thickness, which are made depending on the type of cushioning as well as traction needed for the heavy-duty equipment.

Based on the above knowledge, you will have the basic knowledge which are at the top of your priority list. Is it distance, tread wear or traction? You will be able to find the right tire when you have details on tire size, including the overall dimensions, as well as the structure of the casing, tread depth, pattern and wear capabilities. Bead shape, load and speed capacities, cut puncture and rolling resistance, as well as flotation and sidewall protectors are also important.

While the requirements of specific OTR tires vary according to different applications, there are some common prerequisites to take into consideration, including durability, reliability, stability, robustness and traction.

Which is better, radial or bias tires?

It's not about which is better, bias or radial, but about what works best for your specific application.

Generally speaking, bias tires are better suited for short distances and offer greater vehicle stability, better cut resistance on the sidewall and improved self-cleaning. In comparison, radial tires are better suited for longer distances and provide better tread wear, longer tread life, greater puncture resistance in the tread area and greater traction.

How do I know what my tire pressure should be?

You can find the recommended tire pressure for your machine in your machine handbook and also recommended tire pressure on the tire sidewall. The Ortec distributor and us will also suggest the tyre pressures based on our knowledge on the application.

How much load/weight can my tire carry?

The load index is shown on the sidewall of each tire. Never try to exceed the load-carrying limits or maximum vehicle axle load limit. Overloading builds up excessive heat in the tire and could lead to failure. And it can even cause risks in safety.

How long do dump truck tires last?

Off-highway dump trucks are designed to carry as many as 70 ton loads in harsh working conditions. The life cycle is closely related to its usage, whether the load exceeds the designed load capacity, how well is the road maintained, whether tires are frequently exposed to cut or impact, etc. Generally, such tires can last 2,000 to 10,000 hr, depending on work conditions and operation.

What kind of dump trucks are 14.00R24, 14.00R25 and 16.00R25 tires designed for?

16.00R25 E3/E4, 14.00R25, 14.00R24 tires are mostly designed for three-axle off-highway dump trucks with payload ranging from 40 to 70 tons. These off-highway dump trucks are widely used in the small and medium-sized mines, quarries, port and dam construction projects in China, Southeast Asia, India, Africa and CIS countries. The tires are required to perform with least downtime and high efficiency in very harsh working conditions.

What is speed ratings?

The speed rating of a tire indicates the speed category (or range of speeds) at which the tire can carry a load under specified service conditions. A letter from A to Z symbolizes a tire's certified speed rating, ranging from 5km/h (3 mph) to above 300 km/h (186 mph). The speed ratings for OTR tires and truck tires falls in the A to K range.

So the result is that they select tires that are very good for money. The Ortec tire factory supplies OE tires to some of the biggest construction equipment manufacturers and its tires deliver exceptional performance out of its costs.

Why choosing Ortec construction tires?

The Ortec construction tire range is designed to meet the requirements for the most severe working conditions in construction, and are recognized by:

- Improved traction delivered by specialized tread design

- Excellent resistance to damage and impacts provided by heavy duty sidewalls and reinforced tire construction

- Low heat buildup because of its high-tech casing

- Enhanced tire performance due to premium rubber compound

What is the minimum order quantity?

For sea shipment, the minimum order quantity is a 20 feet container load. If you request a LCL order (sea shipment) or need to discuss for a flexible quantity in air and land carriage, don't hesitate to contact us.

Do bulldozers have tires?

Wheel bulldozer, sometimes referred to as a tire bulldozer, is a type of bulldozer that is great for moving through soft surfaces, leveling and moving material. It is normally larger than a crawler. A wheel bulldozer is more maneuverable than a crawler since its tires offer better overall handling. It also has completely articulated hydraulic steering and moves on a smaller axis. Wheel bulldozers are widely used in mining, quarrying, road projects, etc.

What is a directional tread pattern?

A directional tread is engineered to roll in a certain direction when the machine or vehicle travels forward. It is usually designed to offer good traction, stability and better comfort in certain applications.

Tires with directional tread patterns must be mounted so that the forward direction of rotation matches the directional arrows on the tire sidewall. If mounted improperly, directional tires may also wear irregularly and prematurely, and produce excessive road noise.

The opposite of a directional tire is a non-directional tire, which can rotate in either direction with equal performance, regardless of the road conditions.

Where are the ORTEC/UTECH tires manufactured?

ORTEC manufactures its OTR tires in three plants, respectively in Shandong, Jiangsu and Tianjin of China. All of the three plants follow the same standards that make our product quality equal or 90% plus compared with Tier 1 brands.

How do I claim for warranty?

Under the circumstances that an ORTEC or UTECH OTR tire becomes unserviceable due to manufacturing defects, you can contact Ortec and file a claim for warranty. You are only requested to send us several pictures of the failed part and let us know info as simple as the purchasing date and serial number. The Ortec engineer will analyze to make you informed in 7 working days whether the failure is covered by this limited warranty. If it is covered by warranty, Ortec, at its option, will:

  • repair or replace it with a comparable new OTR radial tire;
