The Proper Way to Handle a Tire
Improper handling of tires can lead to damage, especially to the beads. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent excess pressure from being exerted on the beads.
When using a fork lift to lift a tire:
Lay the tire vertically across the fork, or
Use a round fork at least six-inches in diameter.
Do not insert a flat type fork within the tire.
When lifting tires by crane:
Use a wide nylon or rubber sling.
Do not hook the tire beads.
Do not use a rope sling.
